Starting to Read

2022 | 12"x 18"

Experimenting with a limited color palette and exploring pattern and shape with machine and hand stitches in mini rectangular frames, I could do this forever. I loved playing with all the variations, seeing which ones look best with which ones. It’s like letters forming words forming sentences into meaning.

Greatly inspired by the gorgeous textile work of Lisa Kokin’s Raw Edge Series.

(Linen, cotton, burlap and polyester fabric scraps and cotton floss with hand embroidery and machine stitching.)
