I was bitten early by the sewing bug when my naked Troll Dolls needed clothes. Then my Barbies begged for new outfits. And as a teen, I rebelled by making braless halter tops.
During my working life I held three different careers in the arts; first as an Advertising Art Director, next as a Jewelry Designer and last as an Etsy Crafter. I loved it all, but creating for a market and a profit comes with its own challenges and I’m happy to now be retired.
As a recent California transplant to the Pacific Northwest, I enjoy exploring my art my own way and I’m back to creating with needles, fabric and thread.
Play is an important part of my practice. I love stylizing and abstracting graphic elements and I delight in what happens when my collections and vision are threaded together. My favorite materials are family hand-me-downs and rummaged oddities found from years of thrifting and collecting. These previously owned items are embedded with well-worn history and nostalgic storytelling which often leads me to playful surprises.
As I continue my new adventure; my hands will be happy, my heart will be full, and I may or may not be wearing a bra.
