My local art supply reuse store, MECCA, sponsors an annual community art project where each participant receives a surprise material that they integrate into an art piece.
My surprise material was a big bag of dog fur trimmings. WTH?!? After much laughter and trial and error, I figured out that I could make cordage out of it and thought I could weave it into a bowl or something.
Then a friend was reminded of Meret Oppenheim’ famous fur-lined teacup that is titled “Object” and my Dog-Fur Object was born.
(Dog fur and waxed linen, hand-coiled into cordage and woven.)
