Choosing to uproot from my southern California home of six decades to a cooler climate, I had to say goodbye to my desert garden, grandma’s 50-year-old barrel cactus, and my millions of collected rocks. Over my first chilly Oregon winter, I recreated my favorite specimens while learning the basics of quilt making. Creating with a new medium – while fondly remembering my past – warmed my soul.
(Cool cotton sheets, an embroidered pillow cover, linen pants, found fabrics, vintage ribbons, wool roving and burlap. Hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, machine pieced and hand quilted.)
